Introducing Custom Event Types: Set Your Event Settings Once, Reuse Them Every Time

We are pleased to announce Custom Event Types, a new way to turn your live event configuration into a reusable template inside StreamShark.
Every live event in StreamShark starts with an Event Type, which determines how the event streams and which advanced settings are available to you. That works well for a one-off stream. But if you run the same kind of event week after week, a recurring town hall, a weekly service, a season of matches, a training series across dozens of departments, you are reselecting the same options every single time. It’s slow, and worse, it’s easy to get wrong. One missed toggle event config during creation, you could end up with troubleshooting with hours of time.
Custom Event Types fix that. Configure your settings once, save them as a template, and every event created from it will share the same configurations.
Build a template from any supported base type
When you create a Custom Event Type, you start by choosing a Base Event Type. This sets the underlying streaming behavior and determines which advanced settings are selected. From there, you configured the rest of the event exactly the way your team runs it and save it.
Apply it in a single click
Creating an Event works the way it always has. Head to Streaming Events, click Add, and pick your custom type from the Event Type dropdown. Every setting you saved on the type is applied automatically. No checklist, no copying settings from last week’s event, no wondering whether the person covering for you remembered step six.
Standardise how your organization stream
For larger teams, this is as much a governance feature as a convenience one. If your organization has a SOP for how internal broadcasts should be secured, recorded, or delivered, a Custom Event Type encodes that standard directly into the workflow. Operators pick the right type and inherit the right configuration, instead of relying on documentation nobody reads under time pressure.
Why it matters
Configuration drift is one of the quieter risks in live production. Every manual step is a chance for a setting to be missed, and the cost of that mistake usually shows up at the worst possible moment – in front of an audience, mid-broadcast, with no time to fix it. Templating removes those chances entirely. Your first event of the year and your hundredths are configured identically, whether they were setup by the same operator or not.
